About the World

About Arynbel

Arynbel is a kingdom shaped by divine fate, fading certainty, and the growing fractures between what the world was taught to believe and what now refuses to remain hidden.

The World of Arynbel

A Kingdom of Faded Divinity

Arynbel was built around the belief that fate could be seen, interpreted, and obeyed. For generations, divine soulmarks shaped identity, duty, inheritance, and social order. The marks were understood as expressions of the goddess Elara's will, woven into a greater pattern that gave purpose to both individuals and the kingdom itself.

That certainty is weakening.

Soulmarks falter. Old doctrines no longer answer every question. Across Arynbel, people cling to inherited truths while signs of instability spread through faith, memory, and the boundaries of the world itself.

Fate Written in Flesh

The Soulmarked and the Hollowborn

A soulmark is more than a symbol. It is a visible declaration of place and purpose, carrying religious, social, and political weight from the moment it appears.

But not everyone is born with one.

The Hollowborn exist outside the structure Arynbel was taught to consider sacred. Feared as omens, hidden by families, persecuted by institutions, and treated as evidence of divine failure, their existence challenges the idea that destiny is complete or infallible.

As the old order strains, the question they embody becomes harder to ignore: if fate can fail to mark a life, what else might the world have misunderstood?

Beyond the Known World

At the Edge of the Veil

The Veil is the boundary between the world people inhabit and something less easily defined: memory, possibility, absence, and the remnants of things that should no longer remain.

Echoes linger where memory refuses to disappear. Veilruptures tear through places where that boundary weakens. Old shrines, ruined sanctums, and forgotten sites stand as reminders that Arynbel's history is not as settled as its surviving records suggest.

For some, the Veil is a threat to be contained. For others, it is evidence that the accepted story of creation is incomplete.

Power and Belief

Doctrine, Authority, and Memory

Power in Arynbel is held not only by crowns and blades, but by marks, doctrine, ritual, and control over what is remembered.

The Conclave remains a central authority over faith and interpretation, while the Aurent Orders act where doctrine becomes judgement, enforcement, and intervention. Beyond sanctioned belief, groups such as the Veilbound preserve forbidden memory, shelter those pushed outside accepted order, and question truths others would rather erase.

The conflicts shaping Arynbel are therefore not only political. They are struggles over who has the right to define fate, preserve history, and decide which truths are permitted to survive.

A Fractured Kingdom

Lands Shaped by What Came Before

Arynbel stretches across ancient forests, fractured coasts, frozen peaks, drowned shores, mist-bound valleys, and lands scarred by catastrophe. Each region carries its own history, beliefs, dangers, and relationship to the fading structures that once bound the kingdom together.

The landscape itself has become part of the story. Roads pass through places altered by Echo, settlements endure beneath old religious authority, and entire regions preserve evidence of events that official histories would rather simplify or forget.
