The Armoured Pug is an independent Canadian studio and publisher creating original worlds across fiction and interactive media.

Its work includes publishing, game development, worldbuilding, and selected development and consulting work. Chronicles of Arynbel is its primary original setting.

Ryan Bryce is a Canadian dark fantasy author and game developer and the creator behind Chronicles of Arynbel.

His work draws on a long interest in fantasy fiction, tabletop roleplaying, interactive worldbuilding, and the relationship between systems and story. Where Fate Breaks is his debut novel set in Arynbel.

Where Fate Breaks is a dark fantasy novel set in the kingdom of Arynbel, where destiny is carved into flesh at birth and those born outside that system are feared.

The novel follows two perspectives on opposite sides of that order: one born without destiny and one sworn to enforce it.

Published by The Armoured Pug, Where Fate Breaks releases October 10, 2026 in eBook, paperback, and hardcover editions.
